　私の学生時代には、MTVなど、プロモーションビデオ(PV)の番組が、テレビの深夜枠で結構放送されていました。まだ、インターネットがそれほどの普及には至っていなかったこともあるのでしょう。振り返ると、あのころのテレビが、一番元気だったのかなと思える節もあります。しばらくすると、録画による著作権の問題が発生するためか、ほとんどPVを放送する番組はなくなってしまいました。PV専門のジュークボックスなども見られましたが、あまり定着しなかったようです。結果的にはインターネットに集中していった時代だったのでしょうか。

　そんな中で、シーナ・イーストンの「テレフォン」は私の好きなPVのひとつでした。世の中はバブル経済に突入しようかという頃で、とにかく、みんな元気でした。気の短い人でもどこかシャレで済んでしまうような、受け入れてしまうような余裕を社会が持ち合わせていたような気がします。

  さて、電話待をしているシーナ・イーストン、彼女は近づいてくるモンスターをものともしない位ヒステリックになっています。そして、待ちに待ったその人はようやく帰ってきます。さてその彼氏は果たしてどんな人なんでしょうか。
